I had an interesting experience here too say the least. I was a very quiet student at first who was struggling very much with her mental health at the beginning of my freshman year. By the end of it, I had to be hospitalized for my mental health and my GPA was at such a low point that I had to either fix it by the end of next semester or face expulsion. I credit the mental health people at UNC Charlotte for encouraging me to reach out to help. The school gave at minimum 12 free counseling sessions, which eventually allowed me to open up to someone about my struggles. Being able to share my problems in a judgement-free space ultimately saved my life.
The next semester, after I was released from hospital was a struggle, but again with the mental health staff and the faculty that was part of the grade recovery program, I passed that semester with flying colors. Not only that I was able to bump up my GPA to the point where I was put on the Dean's List for my college for 2 years in a row!

UNC Charlotte has the best campus! It is super well maintained and always looks really pretty. Everyone is also really chill and relaxed. It is really dead on the weekends, which is shocking at first, but during the school week there are always things happening, that being said it is a really chill environment and doesn’t feel very rushed, even between class periods. I have had mostly good professors and my class work is heavy but it’s doable and most professors seem to be really helpful and caring. On-campus housing is really good, as long as you avoid the older dorm buildings. Some people complain about the dining hall food but I think it’s not that bad and there are plenty of other on-campus food options.

I like the size of the campus, it is very walkable and in the spring especially it is really gorgeous. On a positive note, I have really loved my classes at this school. All of the professors that I have had so far have been more than qualified for their position and very excited to teach students. The campus life is nice if you find a club you like, but I will say if you are looking to meet new people you usually have to be the instigator for that process, but that could be expected anywhere. My biggest complaint about the university is the housing department. The actual dorms themselves are great! Maintenance is super nice and the buildings are too! But, it is EXTREMELY difficult to get housing as a returning student. Overall, I do think that you could get the average Charlotte experience at other universities, but if you are putting yourself out there and taking advantage of their resources then you will have a great time!
