Gregory (Five Nights at Freddy's) (2024)

Gregory is the main protagonist of Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach and the overarching protagonist of its sequel DLC, Ruin. He is also the titular main antagonist of the story "GGY" from the Tales from the Pizzaplex novel series.

Once an underling of Glitchtrap, Gregory is an enigmatic young boy who is locked inside Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex and is attempting to avoid its killer animatronic attractions and escape it. During the game, he is assisted by the main animatronic Glamrock Freddy, who protects him from the various threats within the PizzaPlex. After escaping the PizzaPlex and redeeming Vanessa, Gregory becomes determined to make sure the Mimic won't escape his imprisonment by all means necessary.

He is voiced by Marta Svetek, who also voices Vanny and Roxanne Wolf in Security Breach and Mystic Hippo in Help Wanted 2.

Appearance[]

Gregory is a young boy with light skin, brown hair, and brown eyes. He wears a dark blue polo shirt with two white rings around its torso, as well as beige shorts, white socks, and red sneakers. He also has a band-aid on his right cheek and left knee, and commonly wears a Freddy Fazwatch gifted to him by Glamrock Freddy.

History[]

Tales from the Pizzaplex[]

Not much is known about Gregory's past. While he's confirmed to have parents, the fact that the therapists refer to them in past tense implies that they died during his childhood. Either way, he attended middle school with his friends Tony Becker and Ellis. He also had a friendship with a girl named Cassie. Gregory would eventually enter Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex and somehow start working for Glichtrap, either by his own will or via possession by the Glitchtrap virus.

This would lead to him hacking all the Glamrock Animatronics to make them hostile and lethal to kill children, manipulating the Pizzaplex's night guard trainee Vanessa A. into following Glitchtrap's instructions, and killing any therapists that come close discovering the truth through unknown, but brutal means. When Tony starting investigating their deaths, Gregory brought him to the Pizzaplex and is implied to have killed him too.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach[]

Sometime before the events of the game, Gregory would either have a change of heart or break free from Glitchtrap's influence, leading to him trying to escape the Pizzaplex. He teamed up with Glamrock Freddy, who was back to his original programming, so he could evade Vanessa and wreck the Glamrocks for hunting him down. He would then play all the Princess Quest arcades, allowing him to defeat the virus inside the games and free Vanessa from his control. During the night, Gregory would fight and heavily damage Glamrock Chica, Montgomery Gator and Roxanne Wolf to upgrade Glamrock Freddy.

Eventually, 6 AM comes and the PizzaPlex's doors are reopened. In the canon ending, Gregory returns to the PizzaPlex's arcade and completes all three Princess Quest games. While Glamrock Freddy is heavily damaged while fighting some S.T.A.F.F. Bots, Vanny's brainwashing is undone and she is redeemed. Gregory, Vanessa and Freddy (who has been reduced to a still-sentient head) exit the PizzaPlex and eat ice cream on a hill as they watch the sunrise.

Multiple Endings[]

While the canon ending is described above, the game also has several alternate endings:

• If Gregory simply leaves the PizzaPlex, he runs away and sleeps on the streets, where he is ominously followed and presumably killed by Vanny.
• If Gregory has reached a secret alternate exit, he and Freddy both escape the PizzaPlex and drive away in a car. While Freddy eventually runs out of battery power, Gregory uses jump cables attached to the car battery to recharge him.
• If every golden plush is obtained and you leave through the fire escape, Glamrock Freddy concludes that the PizzaPlex will only cause more harm if it remains standing, and proceeds to burn it down. As the two reach its roof, Vanny follows them both, only for Freddy to pull her over the edge as the two fall to their deaths. Gregory unmasks Vanny's corpse, only to discover that she is Vanessa.
• If Gregory decides to fight Vanny, Freddy protects him as she sends the S.T.A.F.F. Bots to fatally disassemble him. Gregory obtains Vanny's device and uses it to have the bots brutally tear her apart, while he stands by Freddy's broken body as the bear dies.
• If Gregory and Freddy venture into the PizzaPlex's underground, they eventually come across the buried ruins of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place from Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, where Glitchtrap - using his physical body "Burntrap" - emerges from his charging station and attempts to brainwash Freddy. However, Gregory manages to set the Pizza Place on fire a second time, and leaves Burntrap to be dragged away by "the Tangle" as he and Freddy escape the collapsing pizzeria, with a post-credits scene showing the two sitting on a hill and watching the sunrise.

Ruin[]

Following the canon ending, Gregory and Vanessa lure the Burntrap body out of its charging pod and into a room far below even the Pizza Place. A security program called M.X.E.S. is built and installed to keep the Mimic from escaping.

Sometime after the events of Security Breach, the Pizzaplex is completely wrecked by an earthquake caused by Tangle and left in a state of disrepair and ruin. The Mimic, obtaining the Fazphone Gregory left behind while luring him to his prison, impersonates him to call his friend Cassie into the ruins to free it from its imprisonment. To do so, it orders her to disable the security nodes located around the Pizzaplex and while initially compliant, "Gregory"'s strange attitude and logic begin to make Cassie suspicious.

At the finale of the DLC, Cassie unwittingly frees the Mimic and it pursues her, though Roxanne Wolf manages to hold it off for a while. The real Gregory calls Cassie and, using directions he obtained from "a friend" (thought to be either Glamrock Freddy or Vanessa), guides her out of the subterranean maze.

Unlike the main game, Ruin has no confirmed ending thus far.

• If Cassie follows Gregory's instructions, she manages to escape to the elevator from the original game, where Gregory explains over the PA system that the security system set in place was meant to imprison the Mimic, but now that it's been disabled, it's free to escape sometime later and will threaten everyone. Seeing as the elevator is a viable escape route, Gregory apologizes to Cassie for what he's about to do and collapses the elevator, presumably killing her and trapping the Mimic within the depths. After the credits roll, Roxy calls out Cassie's name.
• If Cassie takes an alternate route and finds a Fredbear cutout, wearing the Security Mask will trigger an ending with Gregory sitting on a hill with HELPI and Vanessa. However, this is implied to be an AR illusion Cassie is experiencing, leaving her vulnerable to the Mimic.
• If Cassie views through all hidden security cameras and opens the security doors, Gregory will lead her towards the scooping room while she is chased by the Mimic wearing a modified mascot costume. Cassie then uses the Scooper to kill the endoskeleton.

Trivia[]

• Gregory closely resembles the Crying Child from Five Nights at Freddy's 4.
  • This has lead to fan speculation that Gregory is a robot recreation of the Crying Child who's fueled with agony, similar to Charlie in the novels.
  • However another theory that the Mimic tries to recreate his own version of Afton Family. Gregory represents the Crying Child, Vanessa represents Elizabeth Afton, Glichtrap represents William Afton, while Glamrock Freddy likely represents Michael Afton.
• Gregory is one of the first ever human characters in the franchise to be physically shown.
• Gregory was revealed to be Patient 46 in Tales from the Pizzaplex.
• Gregory is left-handed. This is shown whenever he holds his flashlight, Faz-Cam, or Fazerblaster.
• In the "Leave Ending", it is revealed that Gregory is an orphan and he is homeless.
  • This is also supported by the fact that he wears Glamrock Freddy-themed clothes, like his polo shirt and sneakers.
  • Additionally in the Ruin DLC, he owned a backpack that was Glamrock Freddy-themed as well and can be found next to the ramp in the room with the M.X.E.S. Central Hub in it.
• In the Ruin DLC, it is shown through holograms the potential meeting between Gregory and Cassie with the former comforting the latter by offering her a tissue to dry her tears and makeup.
  • It is also shown that Cassie cherished this friendship as Roxy stated that none of the friends she invited to her birthday party showed up, as she is shown crying harder at the sight of a wall covered with missing posters that have Gregory's face on it which can be found in the same location upon deactivation of the giant scissors security node.
• In the Elevator ending in the Ruin DLC, while it might have been like Gregory betrayed Cassie by making the elevator fall, popular fan theories suggest that it may have been the Mimic that was responsible for it.
  • Gregory stated outright to Cassie that he is not at the Pizzaplex, while Roxy fights off the Mimic.
  • Gregory stated that he only has a map of the location given to him by either Glamrock Freddy or Vanessa, not any control over it.
  • While explaining to Cassie the purpose of the M.X.E.S. security system, there is a bit of microphone feedback implies to be Mimic, before the conversation changes to Gregory telling Cassie that releasing the Mimic was not her fault, potentially meaning that the Mimic hijacked the speaker, since it is known that the Mimic has abilities to control over the building and electronics in general, as well as Gregory goes from saying "down there" to "down here" implying that he is in the location.
